20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EURO (2022) 8 REAIS
2022 marks the 20th anniversary of the introduction of euro banknotes and coins. Twenty years ago, on 1 January 2002, 12 EU countries introduced euro banknotes and coins as the single currency for all of them. Our country was among those that initiated this union, which made our current currency the second most important currency in the world.
The obverse of the coin shows the image of His Majesty King Felipe VI.
On the reverse of the coin, there is a representation of Princess Europa, used as a holographic image on the euro banknotes, and an image of a bull reminiscent of Zeus at the abduction of Europa. To the left of the coin are the face value 10 EURO and the mint mark, and to the right of the coin, at the top, are twelve stars. At the bottom, in capital letters and in a circular shape, is the legend XX ANNIVERSARY OF THE EUR

2022 marks the 20th anniversary of the introduction of euro banknotes and coins. 20 years ago, on 1 January 2002, 12 EU countries introduced euro banknotes and coins. Three years earlier, the first countries had fixed their exchange rates, adopted a shared monetary policy within the framework of the European Central Bank and launched their new common currency on the world's financial markets. Today, the euro is the currency of 19 EU countries with more than 340 million people and the second most important currency in the world.
