To mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America, a special series of collector coins has been issued. Reflecting this theme in their designs, the coins highlight Spain’s contribution to the success of the war in favour of the thirteen American colonies.
On the obverse of the coin, within an ornate decorative base from which two arms emerge, appears an anonymous portrait of Luis de Córdova y Córdova.
The reverse features an image of the ship Santísima Trinidad, taken from a 19th‑century engraving.
