SPANISH OLYMPIC TEAM 2026 SILVER COIN

The Olympic Winter Games are held every four years for sports practiced on snow and ice.

From February 6 to 22, 2026, more than 3,500 athletes from 93 countries will compete for 195 medals in 16 Olympic disciplines in Milan and Cortina D'Ampezzo (Italy).

Spain began its journey at the Olympic Winter Games in 1936. Since then, it has never missed this winter event.

The first medal won by a Spanish athlete was Francisco Fernández Ochoa in Sapporo 1972, with a gold medal in the alpine ski special slalom. In the same discipline, but 20 years later, his sister Blanca Fernández Ochoa won bronze in Albertville 1992.
We had to wait 26 years for a Spanish athlete to reach the podium. But it was achieved on two occasions. At the Winter Olympics, held in Pyeongchang 2018, Javier Fernández won the bronze medal in figure skating and Regino Hernández in snowboard cross.
Finally, in Beijing 2022, Spain won its last medal. It was Queralt Castellet who won the silver medal in snowboard halfpipe.
