Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias has completed her military training in 2026, having served in all three academies of the armed forces over the past few years. The Royal Mint is commemorating the end of this training period with this new €60 coin.
Consequently, both sides of this year’s silver coin feature her time at the General Air and Space Academy (AGA) in San Javier (Murcia) as the main theme, as part of her training programme in the Air Force. This marks the conclusion of her three-year military training, necessary for her to one day become Captain General of the Armed Forces.

60 EURO EXCHANGE 2026 LEONOR , GENERAL ACADEMY OF AIR AND SPACE
Following her time at the General Military Academy in Zaragoza and the Naval Academy in Marín, Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias has, in 2026, completed the third and final stage of her military training at the General Air and Space Academy in San Javier, Murcia.
The future Queen of Spain and Supreme Commander of our Armed Forces has received, as just another cadet, comprehensive training combining technical knowledge and personal development, fostering essential values and principles such as responsibility, camaraderie, discipline and loyalty, thereby reinforcing and guaranteeing her commitment to lifelong service to Spanish society.
The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Doña Leonor de Borbón y Ortiz in the uniform of the Air and Space Force. This detail recalls the 2025 issue, in which the Princess of Asturias wore the midshipman’s uniform in which she undertook part of her training in the Navy. Alongside the inscription and year of issue, two propellers are also depicted, serving as decorative elements in a reference to the Air Force and the other side of the coin.
The reverse features a depiction of the Pilatus PC-21 (E-27), the training aircraft in which Princess Leonor undertook her practical training as part of her military training as a second lieutenant in the AGA. Alongside the aircraft is the now characteristic quadruple latent image, which this year includes an aircraft, a propeller and the number 26 as distinguishing features.
