GOLD OUNCE " IBERIAN PIG " 2026

In 2026, the Royal Spanish Mint releases a 1 ounce gold coin with the image, on the reverse, of another animal representative of the fauna of the Iberian Peninsula: in this case, an Iberian pig in its natural habitat.

On the obverse shines the image of the Columnario del Real de a Ocho, the most historically recognised Spanish coin, the first global currency, which circulated throughout the world for more than two centuries; above this image stands out one of the features that makes it unique in the world of bullion coins: the ‘Quadruple Latent Image’, a security feature patented by the FNMT-RCM, which allows four different images to be seen in the same space depending on the angle from which it is viewed.

The Iberian pig is the true representative of Spain’s free-range pig population, a traditional inhabitant and pillar of the wooded pastures of the Iberian Peninsula, which have been its habitat for centuries.
