To mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America, a special series of collector coins has been issued. Reflecting this theme in their designs, the coins highlight Spain’s contribution to the success of the war in favour of the thirteen American colonies.

The obverse features the portrait of Isabella I of Castile, inspired by the design of the Isabel quarter.

The reverse depicts the facing busts of King Charles III of Spain and George Washington.
